All of these were amazing books and I would definitely reccomend you read them all...especially All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven (just be prepared to cry). By the way, disregard the fact that I look dead in the picture above (oh, and that was my "reading spot").
This was from a larger mural, however this part stood out to me more. How so? Well the reason they created this painting was because they wanted to show the feeling one might feel whence battling with one's identity. For example, a chicano might not know as to what they should identify as. I mean, they're looked down upon if they state they're american if they were born in America but have parents from Mexico. They are also laughed at if they go to Mexico and claim that they're Mexican (because although they might have family there, THEY weren't born there). The face in the middle is exactly that, they identify somewhere in between. Now the reason I like this is because they were able to portray a huge part of their culture (hence the name Chicano park) through a very simple looking painting that when analyzed, shows the beautiful complexity.
