The "Unfair Project" was a small exercise for us to closely analyze a lens by applying it on ourselves. For example, I chose to look through a feminist lens. It was for me to see any assumptions that were made based upon my gender. A few things I wrote on my face, were that people typically assume that I'm afraid of bugs (I honestly love insects), that I wear makeup for others rather than myself, or that I can't carry a heavy object because according to them, I'm too "fragile" (which I think is bullshit, because I can clearly carry things on my own...if I weren't to do so, I'd be a lazy slob).
So let's talk about the lenses! There are multiple:
Critical Race Theory - It is when you see if a character is treated a certain way due to their race, heritage
Psychoanalysis - It is when you analyze a character and try to see beyond their actions; try to get a better understanding of why the character is acting and choosing to do the things the way that they are.
Marxism - It's when a character is affected by the financial status they are in (are they at a disadvantage, or are they at a privilige?)
Gender Theory - It is when characters do soemthing that would break social norms regarding their gender. Or if they were to enforce the gender norms, and the way that it impacts the storyline.
Feminism - It is when females are more than often seen as less than equal to men. Kinda as if there were a certain "role" that they must play (being objectified)
Reader Response - It is our own personal take on it (like we all have different experiences, so that in itself would create its own perspective).
Serial, Season 1
Serial is a podcast that revolves around certain cases, in this case (pun intended), it was about Adnan and Hae Min Lee. Adnan has been convicted of murdering Hae, although there is an ongoing controversy that Adnan is innocent (therefore, unfairly in jail).
